Ten years ago, the Rana Plaza disaster
On April 24, 2013, a building housing a textile factory, the Rana Plaza, collapsed in
Bangladesh.
Nearly 1,200 workers died; hundreds more were wounded. These workers worked for major Western fashion brands.
This drama marked a turning point for the fashion industry, and in particular for "fast
fashion", who could no longer absolve themselves of responsibilities within their
supply chains .
In 2017 France passed a law for the duty of vigilance which obliges large companies
to map the environmental and social risks of their supply chain and publish a plan to
prevent risk.
agnès b. loves our suppliers!
agnès b. has always chosen our suppliers carefully. We consider them
first and foremost as partners, and have often worked with them for many
years, sometimes since the beginnings of the House in 1975.
Since 2021, agnès b. adheres to ICS (“Initiative for Compliance and Sustainability”).
This initiative aims to support our suppliers in favour of a sustainable improvement of
working conditions of their employees and better protection of the environment.
Through ICS, we require them to respect social and environmental commitments,
verified through independent audits. Each year 100% of our suppliers sign the agnès
b. social and environmental ethics charter.

La Fab. opening Sunday February 2nd, 2020
Stylist, philanthropist and art collector agnès b. has promoted artistic creation under all its forms, the environment and solidarity for many years. La Fab. aims at bringing all these activities together under one single roof.
As a galerist since 1983, agnès b. will present a first exhibition including works from her own collection, with the help of the historical team of Galerie du Jour.
La Fab. will also include la Galerie du Jour, which will become a kind of house where everything is for sale: paintings, sculptures, photographs, some furniture … agnès would find herself “ensemblière” as she likes to say.
La Fab. will also house la Librairie du Jour, a bookstore where publishers will be invited to contribute to the selection and presentation of works on display. Le Point d’ironie will be distributed here. Finally, La Fab. will spotlight the social and humanitarian actions supported by fonds de dotation agnès b., as well as agnès’s environmental activism, spearheaded by Fondation Tara Océan.

Beyond the Streets
June 21 - September 29, 2019
agnès b. has admired graffiti from a very early age. She saw words and messages carved in trees in Versailles where she grew up as a little girl. She remembers seeing Jean Michel Basquiat’s SAMO tag in the streets of New York in the 80s. She takes photos of graffiti in the streets wherever she goes – London, Paris, Tokyo, or New York, and often exhibits graffiti artists’ works at the Galerie du Jour in Paris.
So with great pleasure, she replied, “Yes!,” when curator and graffiti art historian Roger Gastman asked her to be on the advisory board for the New York edition of BEYOND THE STREETS, the graffiti and street art exhibition that took place in Brooklyn, NY, from June 19 - September 29, 2019.
BEYOND THE STREETS, the premier exhibition of graffiti, street art and beyond, at the art form’s epicenter: New York. The show celebrates society’s most pervasive mark makers and rule breakers with a sprawling showcase of work by more than 150 artists from around the world.
www.beyondthestreets.com
The official 625 page BEYOND THE STREETS NYC show book, compiled by Roger Gastman, provides an in-depth look into the world of graffiti and street art’s most iconic figures. This book spans multiple decades and honors the diverse and boundary pushing stories that helped turn vandalism into a contemporary art. Hardbound and 1000+ images.

Exhibition Tara, microplastics mission 2019
From June to November 2019, Tara will sail through several regions in Europe, exploring 10 major European rivers to determine the exact origin on land of the plastics found at sea. Where does plastic waste originate? What impacts do plastics have on marine biodiversity? Microplastics are the result of the degradation of macro-debris. These tiny fragments have numerous interactions with marine organisms: they can disperse potentially invasive species and pathogens attached to plastics, and accumulate toxic products and endocrine disruptors which then enter the food chain, etc.

The schooner Tara is in London, focusing on microplastics on the Thames
10 rivers will be studied by the Tara Ocean Foundation to understand the origins on land of plastic pollution in the oceans. Objectives? Where does plastic waste originate? How does it arrive in the Ocean? Where should we concentrate our efforts to stop the flow of this waste? What impacts do plastics have on marine biodiversity? Recent estimates find that 80% of plastic waste found at sea originates on land. The Tara Ocean Foundation has been involved in this research since 2010. Now it is urgent to explore and identify the flux of plastic waste from land to sea in order to stop it. The upcoming Mission Microplastics 2019 — with the CNRS in charge of scientific coordination — will take the schooner Tara through several regions in Europe for 6 months, exploring 10 major European rivers. The Thames is the first river studied by the scientists. Tara will be docked in Sint Katharin’s Marina from the 11th to the 13rd of June 2019.

Auto Body
agnès b. and Auto Body are pleased to present auto b., a group show featuring eight artists and designers at the agnès b. Galerie Boutique. The installation will include the work of Dana Davis, Nathaniel de Large, Kevin Evans, Juan Jose Heredia, Valerie Kamen, Hayley Martell, LQQK Studio, and Marion Vallerin and will be on view from June 6 – August 25, 2019.
In the playful and collective spirit of the age-old drawing game, ‘cadavre exquis,’ each New York-based artist and designer has been given a letter from which to create a work. While each participant works in varying scales and mediums of graphic design, sculpture, screen-printing, painting, and textiles, the collection of assembled works come together to spell out Auto Body’s namesake.
In addition to the show, a limited edition tee-shirt collaboration between agnès b. and Auto Body and hand silk screened by LQQK Studios will be available for purchase.
