And to buy the album… it’s here

Behind the name Ex:Re hides Elena Tonra, the guitarist, singer and lyric writer of the British group Daughter. A deeply personal album where the melancholic pieces written as never sent letters, to oneself or to others. While its writing spread out over one year, the recording was ended in a few weeks by means of Fabian Prynn (engineer sound and producer house of the 4AD label) and the composer Josephine Stephenson in the cello.

Sous le pseudonyme Ex:Re, Elena souhaitait faire référence à son ex-compagnon tout comme dans un email ‘regarding:ex’ et aux rayons X ‘X-Ray’ telle une manière d’étudier son propre intérieur. Elle explique : “Although the record is written for someone, a lot of the time it’s about the space without that person in it. In every scenario, there’s either the person in memory or the noticeable absence of that person in the present moment. I suppose it is a break-up record, however I do not talk about the relationship at all, and he hardly features in the scenes. He is only felt as a ghostly presence.”
