Today, the moto remains “enable to discover” and offer visibility to labels and young artists that are independent – like us ! And the list is long: Versatile, supported since the beginning: Joachim played his 1st album in the Vieux Colombier woman shop and Zombie Zombie was distributed to PS1, but also Rough Trade, PanEuropean Recording, Bornbad, Infiné Music, Tigersushi, Talitre, Gonzaï, Teenage Menopause, Prohibited and the list is not finished because we welcome all the small labels that need our support!
Special deals with various recording companies are growing all over the world. Preview listening sessions (Patti Smith, Tricky, Cat Power), support for first albums (Joachim, Poni Hoax, Rone) and unconditional follow-up (Zombie Zombie, Koudlam, Frustration), leave room for no doubt that agnès b. loves music! It is thanks to collaboration with record labels that we have been able to produce the compilations given away in our shops free of charge (Chloé, Bernard Szajner, Carl Craig, Buvette, Flotation Toy Warning, Véronique Vincent & Aksak Maboul, NLF3, Guillaume Teyssier, Essaie pas or Talitres 10 anniversary). This has also made possible to open pop-up shops, like Rough Trade for example with the Rough Trade on Tour at agnès b. for the first French disquaire day and the return in France of Rough Trade after 15 years of absence.
agnès b. loves music festivals, moments of communion between the artists and their public. For 10 years now, she has been supporting the music festival La Route du Rock: taking part in the production of the festival compilation and more recently, in photographies exhibitions link with music and the stylist’s universe. She also supports Sonic Protest, Midi Festival, Soy Festival, Les Femmes s’en Mêlent, Nuits Sonores et le Paris Psyché International Music Festival.
In addition to designing especially for artists, among whom are David Bowie, Placebo, Air, Mathieu Chédid, Interpol, Rone, Ibeyi… agnès b. counts many musicians and singers among her fans. These brand enthusiasts, like Sonic Youth, Patti Smith, Tom Waits et récemment Baxter Dury, Temples, William Eggleston, James Chance, Chet Baker, Alan Vega, Lee Ronaldo, Chloé or Nicolas Ker to name but a few, appear regularly in agnès b.
And this commitment for music goes farther, with the coproduction of concert, the one of Tinderstick at Saint-Eustache Church or at Point Ephémère for Rough Trade 40 anniversary for example. Also with the production alone as for the 30 years of her brand, for which she organised a concert at the Olympia venue or at the Café de La Danse where she organized the “On aime la musique !” music festival.
agnès b. is holding a festival at L’Olympia to celebrate the 30th anniversary of her house. On 4th October, in the middle of the Paris collections, the designer presented her summer 2007 womenswear fashion show to the press. Later, the hall where rock was born in France rediscovered its former vocation with a concert combining some of the legendary names in rock with rising figures in the genre from London, New York and Paris. Two exhibitions were also presented within the L’Olympia complex: La jeune fille dans la ville and The Suitman. Rock n’ roll is at the heart of agnès b.’s life and style. The b. music festival was created as an informal yet exceptional meeting of her world and the artists who sustain her musical side!
