This tee-shirt is a reproduction of a photo taken by the painter Francis Picabia of his friend André Breton. Picabia, the main instigator of the French branch of the Dada movement, which was born in Zurich a little earlier, is the author of the Dada Cannibal Manifesto. Breton, who was also a Dada sympathiser, is declaiming this founding text in the photo taken at the Théâtre de la Maison de l’œuvre on 27 March 1920. Three copies of the placard the writer is holding were reproduced by the artist Ernest T in 1985. One of these reproductions was on display with agnès b.'s private collection in the Toulouse Museum of Contemporary Art in 2004. That is where the idea came from for this tee-shirt.
